This barred owl sat in a tree in my backyard from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. (when it flew to my neighbor's yard), alternating between sleep and wake states. It let me get within approx. 50 feet and take pictures. The lighting wasn't the best, but it rarely is in nature photography.
Nikon D7200, 200-500 mm f/.6.

Sharp set, very well done.

Nice! All puffed up….staying warm. Thanks for sharing….
Gotta deal with lighting at hand. Nice shots. Love owls. This one seemed to trust you.
We get many hawks in our trees, but seldom any owls. Lucky you.

I say very nice captures of this sleepy guy. After all he was up all night hunting.
