When I was in Germany in the early 60's these things were everywhere.

Got my first car in '66 - it was a '59 VW bug - loved that car - my older brother borrowed it when he was home from the service and stripped out the transmission and blew the engine trying to drag race it... I was not happy... it went to the junk yard and he went back to his duty station...

When I was in NY in the 1960s, these things were everywhere. We had two in our driveway.
