I'm learning about Bluetooth. I've used it with computers and earbuds and headphones, but I'm trying something different: a radio.
I got an Airfly Pro receiver/transmitter that plugs into the radio's headphone port. That lets it send the signal to Bluetooth speakers. The problem is that it cuts out the sound on the radio, so there's not much sense in doing it. I mentioned that my son is working on background music for a play. What we'll do instead is use an FM transmitter and sent the signal to as many radios/speakers as we want. We could use a laptop, but that would limit us to the two Bluetooth speakers.

I have used Sony Wireless TV Headphones for about ten years. They send an FM signal to the headphones from the "audio out" jack on the back of the TV. I originally got them because my wife - who is hard of hearing - would complain that I had the TV too loud! Using the audio out 1/4" jack does not alter the regular speaker volume, so that can be adjusted to the comfort level of whoever is listening - or it can be muted. The headphone volume can be independently adjusted. After using the headphones for a month or so I advised my wife that I didn't even have to have the volume turned up because the headphone sound is so much more clear than those little speakers in the TV - she tried them, and immediately ordered her own pair. The headphone transmitters work on four different frequencies, so we have one transmitted on each of two TVs - she can be in one room listening to a program while I am in the other room with another program - or we can both be watching the same program. I would have needed hearing aids years ago were it not for these headphones.

sb,
I'm interested in buying a set of the TV headphones. I find two Sony models on Amazon, one costing $100 (WHRF400R) and another costing $225 (WX-1000XM3). Which do you have?
Thanks,
Mike

The one I can hear better.
I love listening to the radio. Today one can pretty much listen to most stations in the U.S and many around the world via online streaming. I bought a real cheap RCA tablet to do this with. Think I paid $50 for the tablet. And I use wireless bluetooth earbuds. So now can enjoy those shows with crystal clarity...no more fading in and out.

Clever. I never thought of streaming with a tablet. I have a bunch of old cell phones and iPods I could use. Actually, I use an iPod to broadcast music throughout the house with a little FM transmitter. It's a lot simpler than Bluetooth - no pairing and no limit on the number of receivers.
