What struck me is that two opposing politicians came together to expand government for those in need, vis a vis the food stamp program and the Women's Infant's and Children's Supplemental Food program.

Today's Republican agenda is so cold and heartless as to defy understanding. The Ryan budget guts both of those programs and guts Medicaid. Bob Dole, along with Ronald Reagan would be turned out of the Republican Party just like Richard Lugar was by that total asshole Richard Mourdock. Just remember who you voted for when your 13-year old daughter is impreganted by her uncle or your wife is in a car accident and needs lifelong medical care that you cannot afford. That is today's Republican Party.

The funny thing is that good old George would be considered a Socialist today. And Nixon, his opponent, would be considered so far to the left as to be a loon to most conservatives. This nation has veered so far to the right that left seems distant.
