I have gotten several excellent books about previous cameras and would like one for the SX70 specifically. The “Photographer’s Guide to the Sony DSC-RX100 iv” by Alexander White is excellent. Anything similar for the Canon would be great. Thanks in advance.

Here ya go https://www.camerauserguide.net/canon-powershot-sx70-hs-camera-user-manual-instruction-manual-user-guide-pdf/31240

Scroll down the page to the list of downloadable PDF user manuals and click on the SX70 manual.

Sorry, I couldn’t find a “How to get the most out of your SX70” book written by a third party author.

I searched on Amazon for "books", Canon Powershot SX... and could only find a third party book about the SX700, which is a four year older, lower specification model with much lower video quality, less zoom range and without the electronic viewfinder. Your SX70 is a "bridge" camera, emulating DSLR design, but with a non-interchangeable lens. The SX700 is more of a compact point-n-shoot, so lacks some of the more DSLR-like features.

However, Canon is highly consistent with menus, control lables and functions across their Powershot models (and to some extent, all their cameras).... One SX model (for example) will be similar enough to another relatively recent SX model that it would be pretty easy for a user to switch back and forth between them. So even this book might be useful to you:

https://www.amazon.com/CANON-POWERSHOT-SX-700-HS/dp/1536982725/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1BFL1GI0TWLR4&keywords=Canon+powershot+sx&qid=1647107195&s=books&sprefix=canon+powershot+sx%2Cstripbooks%2C156&sr=1-1

Below is a summary of the differences between the SX70 and SX700:

Because the SX70 is a "bridge" camera it has a lot of controls borrowed from the Canon DSLR lineup, such as the multi-directional dial on the rear and the * AE Lock button. In spite of the similarity of controls on your bridge camera to those on the DSLRs, I wouldn't recommend any of the DSLR books because they use a quite different menu layout. The Canon M-series mirrorless have a menu more similar to the bridge and point-n-shoot models, so some of the books for them might be of assistance to you. In particular, the EOS M50 is close to the same age and has control layout fairly similar to your camera. Yes, there are some differences. But there are also a lot of similarities. Comparison of SX70 versus the EOS M50:

There are numerous how-to books about the very popular M50 (though a lot are in Japanese or German or ???)....

Of course, don't forget the Canon user manual. If you don't have yours, a PDF version can be downloaded for free from Canon's websites. Whenever I get a new camera model, I always quickly read the manual and carry it with me for at least the first few months in case I need to refer to it. I also always like to buy at least one of the third party user guide books, which complement and expand upon the user manual. However, when I bought a Canon EOS M5 I soon discovered there is no third party book in English. With only the manual I was able to get out and start shooting with my M5 pretty quickly. But another helpful resource was YouTube, where there are a lot of reviews and user guides, plus some more specific "how to" videos about my camera. I just looked and found a lot of videos about the SX70 too:
