An interview with Artistann

Thank you! I am so excited that I won :)

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
I started shooting photo's of my daughters about 22yr.s ago. Things advanced from there.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
I started college as a fine art major, the photography was very important, as I wanted visuals to use in my paintings. It became more important as time past and I had less time to paint. The photography took over my interest and time.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
I love Autumn and love capturing the colorful leaves in different surroundings .

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
I used a Nikon D200. I have updated to the Nikon D800 since then. I shot this one while my husband and I were hiking. Nothing really set up, just an impulse shot.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
I would have loved to have, had my D800 at the time I shot this. To have gotten more detail in the leaf :)

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
Portrait painter!

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?

The winner, "Reflections of Autumn", is one of the most beautiful captures of Autumn that I have seen. Simple and exquisite.

Artistann, You have every right to be pleased with your win. The quality of the work here is the best I've seen in any of these weekly challenges. There was so much really good work It was very difficult to decide where to place my vote. By the way I looked at your web site. Your win here was no fluke, you do consistently good work. Congratulations!! ...... Coot

An interview with chascar

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
My interest in photography started back in the Fifties when my aunt let me use her Kodak Box Brownie. I bought my first SLR, a Mamiya with a 50mm, f2 lens when I was eighteen. A couple of years later, I went to work at Texas Instruments and met a guy that had a dark room. Things just took off from there.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
My Autumn entry was made while on vacation to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. When I first saw the scene, I knew it would make a good photo, but the wind was blowing, causing ripples in the water which destroyed the reflection and the sun was wrong. I went back the next morning and when the time was right, made the shot.

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
I used a Nikon D70s and edited with Elements.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
I have enjoyed a lot of things in my life but at this stage, I can't think of anything that would bring more pleasure than photography.

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
To see more of my photos, I have posted some on flickr or you can just Google 'photos by chascar'.
Thank you. Charles Carpenter
