I bought a Vanguard Alta Pro 263AT aluminum tripod with ball head off of Amazon in 2017. I got this particular model as it's light yet sturdy, and because of the versatility of the center column, which not only goes up and down, can be inverted, but can also go horizontal. It has served me well.
One of the leg extensions pulled out a couple of weeks ago destroying a little Teflon insert so I requested service using their website and got a return authorization number. I took the ball head off as it was a leg problem, saving the shipping cost of the extra weight, and sent the tripod back. Rather than fix it, they sent me a brand new one, new ball head with 2 adapter plates included, within a week.
Don't you wish all companies would service their customers this way. Kudos to Vanguard!

I am glad to hear it. It is good to know they stand behind their products. I have the Alta Pro 263CT, the carbon fiber version of your tripod. I haven't had any issues with it yet. The carbon fiber version is around 10 ounces or so lighter. but is much more expensive. I treated myself to it at the time.
That's great customer service for sure.
Good to know. I have several Vanguards, and they have held up very well.
Snobs pooh-pooh them, but Vanguard has always been a class act.
I have three Vanguards. Their quality is excellent. Also, I had called their Customer Service Dept for technical help. They are class A service.

I have to agree with DBjazz. I always am looking for bang for the buck. Vanguard fits the bill and is a quality produce at a more affordable price

I think buying thru Amazon has side benefits. I had a cordless drill kit I got thru Amazon. The drill acted up 14 months later. I didn't even have to send mine back and Recieved the complete kit including accessories a short time later. I think these companies want to stay on Amazon's good side.
I had the same thing happen but because I live in Australia Vanguard didn't seem to be very interested. They didn't offer to send me the part and didn't even reply to my last email. I really like Vanguard Tripods so I had to buy a new one.

Wow, that's quite cool, for you. They could have just sent you a new insert... or a full set. I've had mine for years. I have a couple minor issues... such as some rusting of the clamp screws. And something else regarding a threaded removable center extension. I had left if off and the end threads are ruined. I have a big Wimblerly style gimbal on it and only use it with my big lenses so am OK with only having a ~6" adjustable center column. And I have three more tripods. Still I think I hit them up. Edit. Mine came from Adorama is a Flashpoint...
Adorama years ago, gave me a hard time about a simple thing that was under $20.00 and they acted like I wanted their first born son. NEVER USED THEM AGAIN. I've purchased $20,000 of camera and telescope stuff since and won't even look at their web page. This is the other side of customer service.
Glad to see companies do step up.
I also bought an Alta 264AT in 2017, and the same thing happened to one of my tripod legs. About a year later, I was in Yosemite. One of the legs came all the way out, and the little plastic insert went floating down the Merced River. I figured it was out of warranty, and I was out of luck. I've been opening the tripod very carefully ever since.
Now, I'll give it a try and see what happens. (not looking for a replacement, just another plastic insert or two).
Thanks!
Several years ago I had an issue with the ball head on my 263AT. I contacted Vanguard customer service about the problem. I expected to pay for a replacement head as it was out of warranty. I was totally surprised when Vanguard replaced it at no charge. They went above and beyond my expectations. Great company to do business with.
