I like the B&W best for me in this instance - strange as I usually strongly prefer colour. Would suggest cropping a little of the black from the top and a bit more from the right edge so as to move the main subject out to the right a bit. Cheers JohnR
I'd say color, but I would like the picture to tell me what the subject is doing. The judges will know because of what they have asked for at least I hope so.

I'm going to submit one of these images to my local camera club for a monthly competition. I really cannot decide as to whether the color or the black and white has more impact. What say you?
Color in this case. Nice shot.

Color is my choice, Andy.
Even though I do like B & W prints I prefer the color.

The B&W --- BUT, if you could tone down the blue of the desktop, and lighten up the face a bit, then I'd go for the color.
Depends on the title of the photograph.

Like you you title the shot as "The Colorful Life of..."
Or "The Suspense of..."
I prefer the color one, more contrast to see the story.

In this particular case, the B&W imparts that this took place a long time ago when presumably, it didn't. I don't see how the B&W makes the photo have any more impact...perhaps it even makes it have less. Stick with the color in this case IMHO
If your emphasis is the face and hands then in my opinion the black and white is better. Color can be distracting. Both versions are great.
