Can those Subarus handle the needs of construction or farm work?
I do remember the pickups from, like 1960, and they weren't as huge as today, and a lot of their power came from 1st gear and a manual transmission.

I learned to drive on a 1/4 ton pickup from the’40s. My first pickup was a half ton 2 wheel drive. I limped along with it for a few years but eventually 4wd became a necessity. And a larger payload rating meant fewer trips to haul supplies. With care, a 3/4 ton pickup could haul 2 tons. Just avoid driving fast on bumpy roads and in situations where it could be necessary to stop.
YES , we can produce it for $24 , but the producer will turn around and sell it for $120 . when i mention that to a friend [ retired banker ] that that was not a friendly way to do business in the us , i got labeled as a COMMUNIST !!!.
