Cicada Killer Wasp (or NOT!)

At least I'm pretty sure about ID. Took this in late evening when I found it sleeping on a plant on our patio table. Cicada killers are supposed to be non-aggressive.

Excellent DOF & composition. I do, however, feel it's about one stop under-exposed-- which is an easy fix. You've done the hard part!

I guess he's about an inch long. He looks like he could zap you good, but they're really not bad bugs...just to cicadas :-) Thanks, Marilyn.

Glad he likes cicada's and not people. Can you train him to go after the palmetto bugs?

Ha! I wish! He was bedding down for the night there. I checked on him much later and he was still there but gone the next morning.

The cold has incapacitated the fly's near the stalls. They were hanging all over the outside walls 3 days ago. I saw nothing today.

great shot! but i dont think thats the cicada killer wasp.it might be a Scoliid Wasp - Campsomeris plumipes..tom
