Good morning "ecobin",
Great shot of a Fisher. You probably already know this but I found it fascinating that the Fisher is one of only a very few number of North American predators who will take on and kill a Porcupine. They accomplish this with a full frontal (obviously, so as to avoid the quills) attack and with repeated and relentless bites to the face are able to kill and consume the Porcupine. Unfortunately, as is the case with so many of our fellow four legged, two legged, and six and eight legged fellow Earthlings, a Porcupines' only real enemy is we Homo Sapiens related to unnecessary killing, trapping and habitat destruction.
Just found this interesting.
All the best,
Terry

Interesting--I have never seen nor heard of a fisher.

Same here - I'm glad I didn't get closer.
The Fisher is a rare capture, the first I have seen on UHH.
Wow, I've seen what I believed to be Elvis, BigFoot, Jimmy Hoffa, and numerous space aliens, however, I have never seen a "Fisher" so thanks for sharing yours.

Well, the next time you see one of those please post!
I was lucky to get a shot off since I was looking up for birds. I never know what I'll see.
Excellent set, Elliott! Congratulations on that rare shot.

Thanks, Mike. I posted it on our local Facebook Group page to alert those who frequent the park - there are many.

I had never seen one before and wasn't sure what it is but my daughter, Shana who lives in CT, knew immediately that it's a fisher and told me that it can be viscious.
From Wikipedia:
The fisher (Pekania pennanti) is a small, carnivorous mammal native to North America, a forest-dwelling creature whose range covers much of the boreal forest in Canada to the northern United States. It is a member of the mustelid family (commonly referred to as the weasel family), and is in the monospecific genus Pekania. It is sometimes misleadingly referred to as a fisher cat, although it is not a cat. Per the map in Wikipedia, it is not common to our area here in PA.
