2. Website coding for mobile devices may be (usually is) somewhat different than a PC.
3. I sometimes get different "looks" between my laptop and my desktop for the same browser... Maybe the display characteristics?

I have noticed this is as well with phones vs. PC's with other websites.

Many sites look to see if a (viewing) device is a PC or a mobile device.
Many times different code executed for each of the two device types.
Some sites even look to see what browser is being used, and tailor the code accordingly.

When I open the link on my PC, it shows "Upcoming Topics" which do not appear when I use my phone or tablet to read the digest.

Same here. A phone is not a PC althogh acoarst some functions overlap.
