Closer peek at a tiny butterfly

This tiny visitor fell out of the sky in my yard so I took a closer look. SONY A6300 + Plan 4/0.10 Microscope lens. Very odd "mote in her eye."

The eyes have it as they say in voting... What you have done is what any of us could do... the difference is that you have done it. You in the second photo have done what many fail to do... add a size reference. Thank you Don, the 2nd son for sharing your work.

Job very well done! That 4X Plan Achromatic finite objective is razor-sharp and it's among the best bang for the buck. Each one of those lenses of the compound eye is connected to a strand of jelly-like cells that collapse when the insect expires. The collapse results in the lens losing its color and luster and leaves behind patterns, much like marbling, in the eyes until all of them have collapsed.
