In a small shallow depression in the soil of the island in the middle of the Duck Pond at the Riverwalk Parkway in Riverside CA is this lone egg that something pecked open to eat the insides. No duckling for Mama duck this try.

If admin doesn't think this belongs here I understand. But we don't have a general "Birds" or bird related forum and the nest is on a small island in the duck pond.

Well it an urban park with all the birds and small critters those places are prone to have. Mice, rats etc. can get to the island by going across the walkway to the observation platform and climbing down on the side with the island.
