Fun in Alaska. Still no Northern Lights! Have photos...

In Feb 2019, I went to Iceland for my first time trying to capture the Northern Lights. In Dec 2021, I went to Fairbanks Alaska to try again! Too cloudy where we were and only there for a short time. The tour people created these types of scenes below (except for the storefront) for us to shoot while we were waiting to see if the Lights appeared. Trying again in Feb 2023. I am going back to Fairbanks and will be traveling to the Arctic Circle, experiencing long drives over the frozen tundra and hopefully will be staying out of the bears and moose way! And if Lady Luck smiles down on me, I will be able to capture the Lights!

All photos were taken with my Oly OMD E Mark 4. Still learning how to use it. Former Canon 5dM4 user. I hope you like the photos!

PS If it is out-of-focus, I hand-held the camera testing the 7 stops of IBIS.

Thank you bsprague! I believe (given I was a bit of a distance away) that, Miriam, part-owner of the Aurora Bear, used a long flexible metal hose?? (couldn't tell from where I was). She pour a flammable liquid on the end, which appeared to have a knot. Then she lit the knot and began swinging it around making different patterns. I have other photos of this process; I just liked this one the best.

Apologies I cannot be more precise; they didn't want us near the flammable liquids! Linda

Hey bsprague, I checked my photos and they said as the part of the title "steel wool". The photos are attached.

You won't see any bears anywhere near Fairbanks in February. Unless you bring a shovel and start digging into dens. Something I wouldn't recommend!

Thank you for the reassurance Retired CPO! I will definitely stay out of their dens! We are going to be crossing the tundra and going up to the Arctic Circle too! Moose can be quite dangerous I was told . . . when they were crossing the road we were on...:) Linda

Was thinking of my Canon (5DM4) when I typed the Oly's information - it is the OMD E1 Mark 111
