I recently paid $350 for an Olympus OM 10 mkii. It’s a lot of camera for the money with considerably more features than pr
previously owned Nikons and Canons.
I have the RX100 VI which I use as a backup and supplement to my FF DSLR for landscapge photography. The image quality is superb and many shots that I do with both cameras exhibit no, or almost no, difference. I paid $600 (mint condition) used for it between one and two years ago. I wanted the longer zoom range that started with the VI model (200 mm equivalent) but didn't think the VII had anything I needed over the VI for landscape use. I've been delighted with the VI for my my purposes and my only criticism is that I found it a difficult camera to learn (I had never before had a Sony and was not familiar with the menu system so the camera can't be blamed for this). I purchased Alexander White's manual for the camera and that has been very useful (I found it amusing that there was a 260 page manual for such a tiny camera). I don't consider $600 too much to pay for this camera and I assume they are somewhat less expensive not than when I purchased and If I were in the OP's shoes I would try to find a used one that is affordable.
Hope this is of some help.

Here is the camera case I use for my HX-99, you have to place the camera in the case and make sure you close it completely so the magnetic pieces engage, then rubber band it for a week or two to TRAIN the case to close around your camera. It has a belt loop and works very nice.
https://www.adorama.com/inkcscpss.htmlI have two of this case and it is great, especially considiering the price. Use them for my Canon G9x II and my Panasonic ZS20.
