recently my battery for my Sony A-100 wouldn't accept a charge. (7 years old). So, I went off and bought a new one. After charging all night, when I put it in the camera, I heard a brief sound, the battery light (red) lit up for a second, then went dark. Apparently the new battery isn't working either.
I see two options:
1. Order a new charger in the hopes mine is broken , and see if the battery charges;
2. Accept my fate and toss the A-100 in the trash.
I hope you will see something more constructive than my plan#2.
Should I ship the camera back to Sony (or a dealer) to see if it can be fixed? Or, order a new charger and see if that fixes the problem.
Any suggestions more than welcome! Thank you

I would get a new charger and see if that isn't your issue.
Take your camera to your local camera store, and see if their charged battery will power your camera. You have not yet eliminated battery, charger, or camera, as problem.

I like your response better than mine. :thumbup:
I would agree with Nikonian72 on this. I always work on the KISS principle, Keep It Simple Stupid. Start with the easy things and work towards the most difficult/expensive . Good luck, lets just hope its the battery or charger and nothing more serious.
Did you buy a knock-off battery or a real sony battery?
The knock-off batteries don't charge off brand batteries that I've tried.
Take it to a camera store which sells SONY and ask them to check the battery and charger
