Hi I would like to learn how to edit photos and enhance them to improve the visual effect for web sites I have used paint a bit. I can not afford Photoshop program and tried the Gimp site. But have not figured out the instructions yet
I would be really interested in a middle of the road photo editing software or an instruction course in photo editing.
If anyone has any ideas .

Photoshop Elements is cheap and will do 90% of what the full-blown CS6 will do. Moreover, any tutorial you find in a magazine, on-line or through a forum such as this will almost certainly be weighted towards Photoshop.

Photo Shop Elements 10 is an excellent choice. This program will do most anything the non-pro will ever need; in fact many pros use it. Now that version 11 is out version 10 has become even cheaper. The more I use this program the more of its hidden secrets I find. There is also a ton of plug-ins available it.

Hi thanks to all the responders this will keep me busy for a while. I have still one outside project to get done and it is snowing here already.I am going to try and get more outside photos with moose and other animals. I will post a few as I get them I live in one of the most beautiful valleys on earth although it is way north and gets real winter.
I have not been through all the photos here to see just how good everyone is getting.I have read some of the responses in the forum to questions from other members. I learned a lot of things I had not heard about it is like a free photo course. I can see my self spending time here and hoping to be able to contribute to the site as well.Thank you all.

Yes I will look at a few and see what one offers more of what I am looking for . I am learning how to use the ribbon and different editors as well in my courses. I also use paint now and have the photo editor from Nikon but it is very basic.

I double this - it does some really neat stuff, and NO learning curve...

If you want layers, try paint.net (NOT the Windows paint)

Trust me - if I can work it, anyone can !
