Thousands of Snow Geese Rising

The other day I visited via a mile and a half hike an area where snow geese gather for the winter. When something spooks them, and a flock leaves the water it's a sight to be seen. I tried to recreate that in the next images. View the downloads. The tools used are a Nikon D500, a Nikon 200-500mm prime zoom with a 1.4X teleconverter, and a Gitzo tripod with a Waverly gimbal.

Thanks. Around here sandhill cranes are a bit rare, so I never see large flocks.

Yeah, I think the Snow Goose population is on the rise. Their population numbers swing widely from year to year. Nice shots!

Just simply amazing... if a few thousand humans try to get out of Dodge all at once like that, there're always casualties. Great sequence!
