My wife and I just finished watching a wonderfully marvelous movie, "Coda" which stands for Children of Deaf Adults. The lead actress in Emilia Jones who many may remember from the Netflix series, "Locke and Key." Another many may recall is Marlie Matlin a deaf actress who has appeared in several movies and TV shows.

The story is about a young girls whose entire family is deaf, except her. She becomes interested in singing and must decide whether to seek a career in music or stay with her family to help with their fishing enterprise. A very touching, moving and well presented story. All the actors give exceptional performances and the story is dramatic, heart warming (and wrenching), and emotional. It won the most awards ever at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival. Apple+ won the bidding for world wide rights to the movie for the record breaking bid of $25 Million.

We highly recommend the movie for all. There are a vary few scenes which have adult themes, but they are resented in a way that makes them appropriate and humorous within the story line.

I agree. Great movie. Apple has more than its share of great movies and tv shows.

I got belly laughs from the scene when her girl friend tried flirting with her brother and the scene where here parents interrupted her and Miles practicing, including the conversation after.

We live close to our daughter, who is deaf as well as her husband. Their two boys are hearing, but their first language is ASL, which did delay their speech development some. We had two deaf daughters and a hearing son. Our son signed before he spoke and is proficient in sign language. The funniest thing that ever happened was when my wife was in the grocery store with our oldest daughter when she was a baby. She had been fitted with a hearing aid, which she wore on her chest, the wires going to her ears where her ear molds were. My wife was in line behind a couple of older ladies. One of them looked at Emily and said, "oh, how cute, a transistor radio for the baby!!" We got a laugh out of that.
