Photo print restoration via digitizing and image enhancement

I have several photo prints that I wish to have restored by digital scanning and enhancement. I know there are software apps that do this, but these prints are very precious to me and I want the very best result that I can get, so I want this done by professionals.

Have any of you used a professional company for this ? If so, I would appreciate any referral to a specific company. (please remember… I don’t have any interest in doing this myself… I want a professional lab to do this… thanks !)

I have read your request in that you don't want advice about doing it yourself. My only comment is that you will never be satisfied with others' artistic product of your expectations. Only if you find someone to directly communicate with and look over their shoulders--so to speak--will you become satisfied. And if you find a big time place on the internet---check out their communication channels (customer service) and the ease of talking to them as you will probably need it.------------ew

I googled “ photo print restoration” and got gobs of results. I don’t have the time to research each service, but you can do that and decided which one you want to call and discuss your requirements. Most of us on this forum do our own print restoration. Wuligal and rlamarz are two that have shown their work here and it is excellent. Contact them for advice and/or guidance and I’m sure you will be satisfied.

Don’t know if you have the capability to scan or have scanned (or high res digital file from digital camera).
That is what you would want to send whatever service you choose.
As pointed out, there are a ton of services out there and most show their capability in advertisements.
With software as sophisticated as it is, most fixes are done by applying color correction filters and/or auto removal or correction filters.
When I owned my lab restoration was much more laborious.

Being an old New England farmer from way back I have a tendency to frugality.

Were I in your position, I would first get the image scanned at as high a resolution as feasible, then post the image on various photography forums. People will do the work for you at no charge.

If you're not satisfied with their efforts, THEN you can go for the professional work. This approach will only cost you time (although inflation could come into play if the suggested effort takes too long).

I do retouching. Send me a PM and I will give you my email. If it doesn't suit you, nothing lost

Ditto, but things like that are on a time available basis. No guarantees (but no cost, either).

If you just have a few photos, you'd do better to find a local person, exchange the photos by hand at a local spot and let the person do the restoration.
There are many very good restorers locally and if you chose a large professional company your photos are liable to go to Pakistan for processing.
I used to do this locally but retired again due to shaky hands.

If there is a camera store near you, contact them to see if they do this type of work. Camera stores have been expanding their service capabilities to make up for declining camera sales.
