My favorite too and you can tell how much he loves playing it. He once went to a Billy Joel concert and someone told BJ about him. BJ invited him on stage to play it. Thanks for listening and commenting.

Interesting! I once learned piano and now I cannot read music at all. I have not touched a piano in 50 years.

I listened to my grandmother play by ear until she passed when I was 5 years old. Then, I knew all my life I could play a piano. But I loved organ music. When I was 40, a friend advertised her organ for sale. I told my husband I wanted it. He questioned that and asked if I had ever tried to play one. I told him no but I knew I could. He bought it for me, I took it home, plugged it up in the dining room and decided my first song on it would be my favorite "Amazing Grace". I sat down and played it. He just looked at me, said "You scare me" and left the room.

Sad to me that you haven't played in so long. I play every day. First song each day is......"Amazing Grace".

the last time I played was in new Zealand in 1972................at a tiny place, Franz Joseph, where they have a glacier. No one could play but me, and I had not played since perhaps i was ten.........we had a grand night odf Community singing. I would not have ever played Amazing Grace.

I'll bet you could sit down right now and play as well as you ever did.

Thank you for the wonderful post. His rendition of Piano Man was delightful, and it is obvious just how much he loves the piano.

My mum was born in 1903 and lived on a farm with her siblings. The lady who played piano at the dances had no piano at home but had painted all the notes on her kitchen table, so that she could practice!

Oh my, what a great story! If she could do that, she could surely hear them in her head.
