OK again, does anyone on here have the Nikon P7700 or plan to get one? What do you think about it compared to other point and shoots?

Nikon eliminated the viewfinder. To me, the main attraction of that series of cameras was to have a viewfinder, poor as it was.

I have one on order. I am buying one because in my opinion they are good all-round pocketables. Other large-sensor bright lens compacts have 5X optical zoom or less, and I suspect that I would sooner or later find that to be a disappointing limitation (the P7700 can zoom to 200mm equiv).

You may consider the lack of a viewfinder a deal-breaker - personally I don't care that much. I have an old bridge camera with a viewfinder that I hardly ever used because I didn't like it. On the plus side, the P7700 has a fully articulated screen which, it seems, has its advocates (apparently it'll show its limitations only in the most extreme situations). Whether this is an issue for you or not will depend a lot on what you are used to.

DPreview have done a review of it, and it came out looking pretty good. There were very few negatives - the worst one as I remember is that it is relatively slow between shots (2 to 3 seconds). Again I don't find that much of a criticism, but if you are used to fast DSLRs, you may feel differently.

The sensor is a latest-generation CMOS sensor, and seems to be pretty good. DPreview compared it against an APS-C sensor from Sony amongst others and it gave the Sony a good run for its money.

I haven't got mine yet, so I can't give you a hands-on description. I hope it gets here before all of the autumn (or is that "fall" for you) colours have gone.
In addition I could add that by all accounts it has a fast subject-based autofocus and there is a manual control option for everything.

Hope that helps.
