Neewer 600BM or Flashpoint xplor 600 HSS or something else?

Hello fellow Hoggers,
I am looking for Advice, Opinions, or recommendations. I would like to upgrade my present Photogenic studio lights to a battery powered alternative. I have looked at the Neewer 600 BM battery unit, The Flashpoint Xplor 600 HSS, several Interfit models which are currently sold out, and a similar Godex model. I will be using them for school and corporate headshot photography. I am looking advice from anyone who may have used any of these models, or suggestions about other brands I may not have researched. Should any of you be wanting to sell a set, (I am looking for two heads), please PM me. The major requirement is that they be AC and battery powered. In other words if the battery poops out I can plug the unit into a wall socket. I will consider battery only as well. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello fellow Hoggers, br I am looking for Advice, ... (show quote)

Flashpoint is Adorama, Godex is B&H -- often the same product with different names. I know several photographers using the battery powered lights and love them. The are highly transportable so can be used outdoors where most lights that plug in can't.

I have the Flashpoint branded Flashpoint Xplor 600 and it works well. Fortunately, it still works with a newer camera I bought. Not so lucky with Godox on-camera flash (TT685N). Godox hasn't released the necessary firmware update in 2 years, so they effectively bricked my flash unless I use it with an older camera.

Thank you for your insights. I rather assumed what you pointed out as the products look similar had have similar specs. I am concerned about AC use should the battery poop out. I just got a note from the Neewer people that their unit (similar to the others) do not so I guess I'd need to buy an extra battery or two.

Yes the Godox/Flashpoint 600 HSS can be used with battery or AC adapter. I have it and love it. It is triggered by Godox/Flashpoint wireless system triggers and works well with all my other Godox/Flashpoint strobes.

I have twelve for all my professional and personal work: One V350s; two V1; three AD200Pro; two AD300Pro; two AD400Pro; one AD600Pro; and one Flashpoint 600 HSS (Flashpoint and Godox are the same. Adorama brands their Godox as Flashpoint).

I love that the Flashpoint 600 HSS can be used, both with battery and AC, with optional AC adaptor.

The Flashpoint 600 HSS is a bargain for the quality and durability. I do recommend it. It often goes on sale.

Just be sure to get the Flashpoint trigger for your particular brand of camera. All Godox and Flashpoint strobes and triggers are interchangeable and will work perfectly with each other, no worries. And get the optional AC adaptor.

(talk with Adorama on the phone when you order and make sure you have the right items). They offer 24/7 Flashpoint support and any USA servicing you might need in the future. My Godox/Flashpoint strobes have never needed servicing.

Cheers

The AC power supply for the Godox/Flashpoint 600 here

I have one of the 600’s and love it.
The battery lasts a long time for what I do.
Higher volume at higher power will of course change your mileage.
Also have the smaller AD 200 and a couple of their speedlights.
Never have had any issues with any of them
