Some good years, some not so good.
Birch?
I did not take notice. Any experts out there ?
I've always enjoyed tree rings , fun to count and mark important years. A few years ago I was backpacking in the Gila wilderness with a couple of my brothers, a tree was sawn for trail access and we spent an hour or so counting rings. we marked off the year our (deceased)father and mother were born, ourselfs and all our siblings (8). Made for an interesting diagram , Wish i could find the photo,,,

Not seeing it even in the download. It’s just a snapshot of a stump, no story.
How old is this stump ? Can’t tell as rendered online. Maybe seeing the original would tell ?

We are not looking at the "stump". The stump is still in the ground. This is the "butt" end of the tree
after cutting. If it is cut into a log, the ends of the log will also be called the "butt". Al least my
neck of the woods.
