Rose on Black

Rose processed in ACR and Photoshop using the Quick Selection Tool. Created a black layer and placed the rose on it. I create a lot of "On Black" subjects but this is the first rose. Oh, the bottle is just a personal statement I will remove if I print this one.

Yes - I do like - but I think I would prefer to see the flower supported on a stem?

It's a beautiful flower portrait. I've done a lot of them, but more recently have left enough of a hint of stem & leaves visible within the black background.

The rose is lovely. I do wish there were at least a hint of a stem and maybe a leaf or two - even if OOF and in the dark. Something niggled me about this image and I stared at it a VERY long time. Finally I did a virtual crop taking a tad off the right and an even smaller tad off the bottom. The reduced the amount of negative space and - to my eyes at least - put more emphasis on the flower and less on the sea of black.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I would have too, unfortunately this one was sitting right on a bed of leaves.

Thanks for looking and commenting, I think maybe more than just a tad on the right. ... I tried the crop and I like it think I'll have it printed 8x10 I still have a little space on my wall.
