The Broad-billed Hummingbird is a beauty in a beautiful family. The male’s vivid red bill, emerald body, and glittering sapphire throat sets it apart from other U.S. hummingbirds. Most of this species’ range lies in Mexico, but it reaches the mountainous canyons of the southwestern U.S. during the breeding season.

The Broad-Billed Hummingbird looks quite different, depending on the lighting.

I too live in Arizona, but I don't think I've ever seen this hummingbird and I take a lot of pictures of hummingbird. Great shots

Leroy,
Glad you enjoyed them.
They are found in S.E. Az and Mexico.
Have you been to Madera Canyon, east of Green Valley?
This is where I usually find them, and where these photos were taken (last June)....I'm hoping they return soon. Currently all I see are the Rivoli.

I recommend checking out Madera Canyon if you haven't seen it. Beautiful scenery, lots of birds, Coatamundi etc.

Nice catches. The first is so lovely. Great focus on the little guy and beautiful, buttery bokeh.
