I received this in my email. I've never heard of Rock Island Armory, and don't use PayPal often and only maybe $200.00 in it. So good luck getting $651.73. I called PayPal fraud department and they checked the transaction ID and the 866# to dispute the charge. They were not theirs. It's a scam. I figure if you called their 866# they would ask all kinds of information from you so they can 'verify you', now having all your information to rob your account. Scammers are getting really good at fooling people with real looking emails.

This was all in color and laid out well. After a copy of the wording, a quick photo off my laptop for an idea how real it looks.

Just check your PayPal acct. These scams are dime a dozen, to use a phrase before PayPal. I never use paypal anymore but I think you can set a notification if your account has activity.

I get them too.
I seem to keep buying TVs and apple computers for <ship to> people in other parts of the country.
None of the charges are real.
They just want you to call the number to get the order "cancelled" and you give them a credit card for your "REFUND". Yea, riiiiight........

I received this in my email. I've never heard of R... (show quote)

Rock Island Armory is a division of Armscor - a major maker and importer of firearms that does business internationally and is headquartered in the Philippines being started in 1905 as a general merchandise company that also sold guns. At the end of WW II they started making firearms themselves In 1980 the company changed its name to Arms Corporation of the Philippines and in 1985 set up a HQ for imports in Nevada and acquired the US company Rock Island Arsenal that specialized in 1911 clones. Now the Rock Island Arsenal brand is used for all their firearms.

The company would like to know, if they don't already, about this scam using their name. I ran into a scam claiming to be Sam's Club among other major companies. I called their support number and they thanked me for letting them know.

I got one just a few days ago that was a text. They are looking for any info they can get before you catch on. I’ve attached it. I once had a workers comp account with Bank of America, the state required it, but I haven’t used it for 15 years. I read a few years ago that B of A was hacked so this is where they got my info.

I have not yet received one claiming a charge to PayPal, but of course your actual PayPal account would show a transaction immediately, not within 24 hours. With any unexpected notification, the trick is to go to your previously bookmarked link to that account, not to a link they provide.

Notice the NON-STANDARD (funny) characters in the email?
They do that so people have a hard time adding those words to spam filters.
Most people will type the normal characters, which will not match what they used.
Then the next time they will change a character or three and your spam filter will not catch it because the words no longer match what you put in the filter.
They also use double charracters in a woord.

DO NOT REPLY to that email. If you want to question it, contact the company directly, not from the email you received, which is not likely to be from the company it claims to be from.

Nice website. Fortunately I have all the guns and ammo I need in my gun safe. Most are all from the early 60s and 70s, collectable, in mint condition. Nothing for big game, but 30-30s, 30 calibers, a 357 rifle, and a few 22s. My 30-06 was stolen decades ago. I don't hunt anymore, but often target shoot on our property. Two of my favorite handguns in my collection are my Smith & Wesson 9mm model 59 from 1971, as well as a S & W 357 model 686 I bought from Liggett's drug store in the early 80s.
