I climbed Longs Peak (not the technical route BTW) when I was an Estes Park high school student and came close to being killed by lightning.

Very nice photo. Those clouds look like they could be promising a big shock to someone. Mahalo for sharing.

Very nice. Those clouds would probably send me scuttling home or to the car.

Excellent shot and your experience should remind everyone of some advice we all know living near the Rockys. Do your mountain hiking in the morning and, be off and done no later than 1pm (at the latest).

I have heard from a few other people who were threatened by lightning while on Long's Peak. Must be a geologic lightning magnet!

So, you know who Sampson was. Damned poacher! I was walking around on the top of Evans one day and I noticed the hair on my arms was standing up. I scurried to the car and back down to Front range territory.
