Welcome to the forum & sorry about your family loss. How long to Banf Np? from where you live & do you have a room for rent=Haha. I would think it is a landscapers photographers dream location up there. I have 2 rolls of unused kodak 200 gold in my fridge for about 16 years. Thinking of putting one in the Canon AE1 Program just for kicks.

Happy shooting.

Welcome: I am happy to hear you are trying film. Did you also get the darkroom equipment? If so, did your father in law mix his own chemicals from scratch? If so, he had formula books. Also you need a standard triple beam balance and some temp controls---like a hot plate. With such old film---I would develop with an anti-fog agent. With such a fast film---probably D-76 rather than a finer grain dev. such as Microdol. Did you get the smaller stainless developing tanks and reels? Unfortunately, on UHH you will only find bickering, arguing, and intransigent opinions from old codgers. Of course I am one of them, also.----ew

No darkroom equipment. My father-in-law was simply an amateur - he actually got the camera to use in his shop class. He was a shop teacher in rural Saskatchewan, and thought the camera would be useful. He also took a lot of family slides w/it, which we have. Nice for my wife to have these, and for our four kids to see what life was like back on the farm, "back in the day" (though not so far back "In the Day!)

Banff's about 90 minutes away. Lake Louise, two hours. We can see the Rockies from our neighborhood, as well as the old Olympic Ski Jump/bobsleigh runs from the '88 Olympics! It is a good place to film both city/street scenes, as well as nature/landscape shots. I also love filming "rural", on the farm, walking the gravel roads...

That ME Super is a fine camera, so compact! I used my father's for several years then left it at a park. I bought a replacement on eBay for fun a couple of years ago since I still had the nice Pentax SMC lenses.

I am excited to shoot this weekend. Also have some 120 film to use in an old Holga for the weekend!

I'm a New Yorker, now in Alberta, via the University of Kansas. I am back into photography after a 10 year "silence". Looking forward to this forum. See my signature for what I own. About to put a roll of 35mm 400 film that expired in 1998, into my father-in-laws Pentax ME Super, gifted to me by roy mother-in-law, after the formers passing last week.
