Doesn't work that way. Rather, it prevents direct Primate Messages from people on the Ignore list. And, it filters those people's new posts from your digest and many, but not all, views within UHH.

If you don't want notifications, just unwatch the thread.

I have never used the ignore list. If there is someone whose post I don’t wish to read, I just don’t read them. In any case here is a link from the help section (link at the top of the page) with information on the ignore list.

An alternative to “watching” is bookmarking. If I’m interested in a topic and want to return at some point rather than getting multiple notifications as people reply, I “bookmark” the topic and can revisit later. If then I decide I’m not interested anymore, I delete the bookmark (or not).

Reminds me of the time when I was dating my second wife who loves to wear mini skirts and decided to introduce her to my parents. My mom, who was extremely conservative pulled me aside and said she didn't like her mini skirts. My response was "Mom, if You don't like them, don't wear them"
