I have never seen what I am calling a sunbow! I'm sure it is probably more common than I know, but it was a first for me to photograph. The dynamic range of the Canon R5 really allowed me to lighten the shadows of the rock.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Great job in capturing this "sunbow". First time I have seen one.

What does it mean when you see a rainbow around the sun?

Halos
Bottom line: Halos around the sun or moon are caused by high, thin cirrus clouds drifting high above your head. Tiny ice crystals in Earth’s atmosphere create the halos. They do it by refracting and reflecting the light. Lunar halos are signs that storms are nearby.Jun 6, 2021
