Microsoft Photo apps

First of all, I am computer illiterate.
I signed up with Microsoft Photo Editor back in 2015. It was a simple program which I understood. Fast forward every year since then they change some little thing, but last year they stopped using file folders for the photos. That threw me off.
Plus they decided to play God, they started taking photos that I took 4 or 5 years ago and stuck them in with my new photos. Problems with is I have been upgrading my cameras so my photos are better now. But this year it looks like they took all my pictures and put them in a bag and shook it up and put all my pictures in no order at all.
I had them in daily order from the get go. Has anyone else have this problem with Microsoft Photo Editor or is it just me

Can’t help you much other than saying you need to become computer literate. Digital cameras are more like a computer accessory than a camera. Without computer literacy, you’re only getting half a bang with your buck.

I can understand that but I can't wrap my head around some of the stuff. I am 77, that is my biggest hang up.

I’m 77 too. Start with the basics. Senior centers often run free classes on the basics. I don’t use Windows Photos at all because I don’t like the way it takes over. Never could figure it out. I use Windows File Explorer to copy photos from my cameras to my computer or to do a simple full screen "view" and Photoshop Elements is my editor.

Quit using your age as an excuse. I am now 87 and continue to learn new things every day. Just sit down and do the work. Don't let a number limit your enjoyment of life.

I save all my photos and edited photos in my own directories on my computer with back-ups on external SSD's. I don't trust any outside entity with them. I have large directories that define an era, such as "Before 2005" and "2005 to 2008" and so-on. Then I have subdirectories with subjects auch as "2008 Canada E Provinces Trip" or Avery at 10 years Old" and so-on. It makes it easy to find things. In each sub-directory I further divide the photos in to JPEG low res, Raw Unedited and Edited sub-subs. It works for me. Now, all I have to do is keep track of where I keep those SSD external drives. I am also 77.

I use external hard drives. There is nothing in my computer, in the cloud, or any other kind of scam out there that takes your photos.
My photos are private.
