In the process of washing dishes I was distracted with these lovely air bubbles on the cup. Hope you all are having a nice day

Very nice pic.
Was the cup lying horizontal (parallel to the ground) or vertical (perpendicular to the ground?
I like the photo but, with due respect, would also like to see the cup to put them in perspective.
I like the photo as-is too though.

Interesting shot. I did something very similar a while back actually it was a glass plate with bubbles on it and the sun behind. Looked like mini rainbows, I've tried to re-create it myself, but it never looks like that happy accident. Anyway, at the time I knew I wanted the shot, but if I went to get my camera and set it up, it would take too long and the bubbles would have burst, so I grabbed my phone that was conveniently in my pocket and I was ready to go!
There was just one problem. The combination of, sun in my eyes, wet soapy hands, and a bowl full of hot soapy water was what I think is known as "the perfect storm". I suspect you've already guessed the ending, literally, a thousand dollar phone down the drain! No, it was not waterproof. No, it was not insured. No, I never got the shot that started it all.
Anyway, sorry for the somewhat boring story, just the op's Pic reminded me of that moment that I've been trying to forget. But I I did learn from the experience, and changed my habits, like, the phone I now own has a great camera in it and it is supposedly "waterproof" (although I don't think I'll test it). I'm much more aware now of how and where I'm shooting, over water, over a high drop, is the ground slippery, too close to a heat source, there's many more situations where I can avoid damage to either my camera or myself, with just a little awareness and forethought. Oh and one other very important thing I changed. I NEVER hand wash dishes any more!
Stay safe and have a great day!
Ray.

Thanks. It was standing up right.

Thanks. I took a few full cup shots. They were nice but the bubbles were so very small that it seemed to lack interest for me

Oh no. That's terrible. Big lessons are usually learned the hard way. Hope you have a way better day than you did when all that went down.

LOL thanks Suzanne, your shots look great and I'm hoping you kept your camera dry! My misfortune was a while ago so, lesson learned. By the way, sorry for "hijacking" your post somewhat, it just reminded me of my mistake, and I got a little carried away telling my story! Anyway, hope you have a wonderful day, and keep shooting!

I enjoyed the story. I have a few big lessons I've learned along the way too.
I did for this one. The last set I almost put my brand new lense in the bubbles in the sink. Luckily lense cap saved the day lol.
Thanks for enjoying them. It's a fun break from reality for me.

Wow, lucky escape. That could have ruined your day, (especially with a "new" lens)! Hard lessons are the most valuable I think. Certainly made me more careful.
