I might be missing something, it happens, but every picture I see of a Z9 only says Z on the body.

It says Z9 on the top plate...just no number on the front like other Zs

Thanks. I was expecting, and looking for it, on the front.

And, as to the last of the line bit. No. Without question Nikon will upgrade that body, likely right before the next Olympics in 2024.

My Z has the number on the front, just like a real camera.

Mine too, which is why I looked on the front for the 9. Progress!

There still be the Z1 or perhaps the ultimate Z with no number.

Just out of curiosity, where did you get your Z9? Everyone here seems to have one and I have had an order with B&H since October. There are obviously better sellers since they misplaced my order once and probably did again. Your dealer seems to care more than mine, so if you, or any of the many of others that received theirs have any names, I’ll give them a call. Thanks in advance.

The Z9 is the flagship from Nikon currently. Sony has the A1 as their flagship. Canon has not released the specs yet of their upcoming R1 flagship. Just the way these companies work I would expect the R1 to be a bit better than the Z9 and A1. Canon has had months to come up with some feature that neither Nikon or Sony have. I would expect version 2 for all of these cameras and then in a couple of years the cycle starts again. Who is best is a point in time thing

If you were a member of the NIKON PROFESSIONAL SERVICES and ordered in Oct. you would now have one. To join NPS it only cost me $150 to join. I received mine Jan 11 from Tempe Camera. Few years back when they were talking about the D6 I was hoping the the D6 would be the combination of the D5 and the D850 but it wasn't. The Z9 is that combination of the D6 and the D850. Now I am not sure which camera to use as backup. Previously on the D850 I used the 24-70 and the D6 the 70-200. I now have the feeling I am going to have the wrong lens on the Z9 at that moment.

THE WAIT WILL BE WORTH IT!!!!!
