I am on day 21 since the surgery to replace my right hip. Spent one night in the hospital.
The first week was rather uncomfortable (I admit I am a wussie when it comes to pain), but it was not as bad as I thought it would be. It was no way near what my kidney stones were like! I only used the heavy meds they sent home with me for two days, and then just Tynenol for the next week, and I have not needed any for the past ten days.
I am walking around the house pretty well without my walker, but I push it when I walk around the block, just for insurance.
Glad I did this as I am progressing much faster than I thought I would.
Thank you all for your well wishes. You are all good people! ❤️ Pretty soon I hope to be lugging around my trusty Canon!
👍
All good news. Congratulations and further pleasant healing!

Hey I live in a 55 and older community and there's quite a few hips around here they've been replaced and if you hang in there at some point you can be very happy. I'm talking a lot better than before. General consensus out of everybody here is why didn't I do this sooner. Good luck and a fast recovery.
I don't know if there any orthopedic doctors monitoring UHH, but maybe I can get some reassurance and perhaps a bit of sympathy. I suffered a training accident which never seemed to heal.
In Feb of 2021 I had my right knee cap removed because I had continuous fractures which they could not fix through normal surgery procedures (total of 4 surgeries). In 2015, I had a total knee replacement. Two months after they removed my kneecap, I underwent spinal fusion at L4-L5 and a repair of a partial herniation at L3. Now, almost a year later I am still have to use assistive devices (cane or rollator walker). This has prevented me from my favorite hobby, photography.
Oh it is hell to get old, but worse to get old and not be in good health.
Best wishes for a continued recovery.
My mother had a hip replacement. She waited far, far too long. Her hip bone actually wore a hole in her pelvis. The ball of the hip and an artificial hip joint on the pelvis were replaced. She decided she would 'beat it' by doing at least the minimum recommended exercises every single day. And she did.
So, the word of wisdom is - do the doctor and rehab recommended minimum exercises every single day. You can beat it too!
Just make sure you do all your therapy even ask for extra.....to often I see people wont do their therapy then proceed to blame the Doctor who did it and everyone and his brother that its not working out for them. lol

Good to know you are recuperating well. My wife had hip replacement about eight years ago and she said it was a fairly easy recovery. She attributes some of her rapid recovery due to our bedroom being on the second floor. She was up and down 16 stair steps each day, some days she did it twice. She claims they also helped her with her knee replacements recovery. Wishing you rapid recovery to have the ability to "lugging around" your trusty Canon.
Good to hear like most things get out of it what you put into it
Keep on rehabbing--you will get there!
Good for you, keep plugging away.
