If people in this country were not so stupid, we would be in much better shape. There was a major controversy in a Michigan school district about students dressing up as animals and using school-supplied "litter boxes" to go to the bathroom.

“Kids who identify as ‘furries’ get a litter box in the school bathroom,” Maddock wrote in a Facebook post sharing the video of the board meeting. “Parent heroes will TAKE BACK our schools.”
In a text message to BuzzFeed News on Sunday, Maddock said "just because the superintendent says it’s false does not make it false,..."

People don't believe that we landed on the moon, but they believe in stuff like this and abduction by aliens.

Freedom of speech has morphed into freedom to lie. And our wonderful social media is responsible for its flourishing. Yes, very ignorant people abusing our freedoms.

Make them think that they are lemmings and put up signs to the nearest cliff.

FWIW the myth was promoted by Disney!

The education system risks floundering when it deviates from its central mission into entertainment. This mission involves teaching students to read, write, and do arithmetic, with the purpose of making good citizens and good workers. All else remains extracurricular.

After navigating my first two boys through the public school system and now starting over with two young ones, I can see how someone might believe the f**e Facebook post. While it sounds ridiculous, it is not that far out of line with some of the other changes that have taken place in public schools over the past 20 years.

You are so right! What has happened to our basic principles of right and wrong, and the importance of T***h, especially by people in power!
It`s scary.

I'd also like to know what happened to common sense.

Our brains are wired to accept belief without evidence. It’s part of our threat response - act first, think later. Sadly it becomes a shortcut for lazy thinking. We can jump to a conclusion when there are too many unknowns to sort through.

Yeah, no one seems to analyze things any more either.

I agree, I think the greatest threat to America is stupid people. By that, I don’t mean ones born with a lower IQ, I mean those that refuse to educate themselves from validated sources and conduct logical, critical thinking and introspection. We’re not necessarily missing knowledge, but a large percentage seems to be missing the wisdom to assess it accurately.

I blame it on our deteriorating education system. Corporate doesn’t need thinkers. They’d have to pay them too much.
