Yes it is---but the moderator should not relegate it to the ATTIC? What more important a lens purchase is there for a photographer?---a once in a lifetime purchase. And satisfaction by others is more important than the salesman doctor who favors or is proficient in one lens format or another? You may or may not have an "honest broker." Do photographers defer to the camera store salesmen and not research satisfaction or lens types for Nikon or Canon. This should be put back on the front burner and out of the attic.----ew (This is not medical information like discussing your gall bladder!)

I had multifocal implants in both eyes last Spring. I now have 20/20 vision in one eye and 20/25 in the other. Previously, I had worn glasses (most recently progressive lenses) since I was a teenager. I can now both read and see distance without glasses. For very small print (think medicine bottles) or in dim light, I need over the counter reading glasses (1.25 magnification). I have no problems using my various cameras without any correction. My vision for using the computer is perfect. I use Lightroom for photo editing without any glasses. The surgery did stir up some floaters in one eye which I occasionally see. This is a not uncommon occurrence, and would be the same no matter the lens that was implanted. Otherwise I am entirely pleased with the outcome.

Dear Sabfish: Could you give me the details of your brand and type of multifocals and the date of your installation since the tech is evolving?---Thanks.----ew

I never needed glasses until my mid 40s. About 2 years ago I asked my Eye Doc about them as my script has stabilized. She wears glasses BTW. She said "you'll notice I haven't gone that route. I depend on my eyesight to earn my living, and to take care of my patients. Eye surgery has a pretty good success record, but it's no where near 100% guaranteed, so I choose to not risk it at this point." For me, I waited a bit, and I know the procedures are getting better all the time. I'm probably going to go for it sometime later this year.

I don't understand why it is in the Attic, maybe ChitChat but I see nothing political in this discussion and it has been respectful...
