This really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I too like the lighter one but that just might be because our eye goes to the light.

I agree. With the first image, our eyes are attracted to the lighter patterned area whereas I feel attracted to the blue color with the second image.

Both are interesting. Once in a while, I've gone nuts and made 6, 8 or 12 variations from an image!

Be well! Ed

At that point, you may have to put it down and come back to it. Overthinking and self-doubt can be your enemy, but sometimes it works the other way. Take Mozart. No overthinking. The results he wanted just flowed out of him. Take Beethoven or Brahms or any of the other overthinkers. They struggled in pain with their music to get it the way it sounded right to them. Fortunately, it sounds right to us, but different people go through different things to get to that end. I suppose that there is nothing wrong with asking the opinions of others.

For me the overthinking is part of a learning process. I'm more of the Beethoven style worker. I feel like something is there and that becomes a fantom itch that will bug me until I find it.

On the whole, I think I like the subtleness of the first. The sizable out of focus area in the front draws the eye to the bubble structures in the middle.

While the second crops right to the story, I think it loses something of the journey.
