Hi again Mark,

Absolutely beautiful. I honestly hope men such as Roddie are still with us today but they are becoming more and more difficult to find. I have a terrible feeling that men such as these are simply going extinct. Being replaced with far lesser versions of Homo Sapiens along with their "me first", "I had a rough childhood" (I did too!), "the world owes me a living", "I was the victim" constant whining. I am currently 72 years old so not a part of that generation but throughout my life I have had the honor of knowing hundreds of these individuals and honestly feel they were indeed Americas' "greatest generation" - the likes of which we will never see again.
Excellent posting Mark. Keep 'em coming.

All the very best to you and yours in the upcoming year,

Terry

WOW Mark, what a great story. Your father sure was a great leader under very difficult situations. A true leader who always placed his men first. Thank you for sharing and I can see how proud you and your family must be.

Thank you, but you are confused. I received the story from a friend and passed it along in my UHH post.

What a great and inspiring video Mark. Thanks for sharing. And that is also why they are known as "The Greatest Generation".

Thanks Mark; Through tears, Lest we forget! My coffee group recently lost our 99 year old friend, some 2 weeks short of 100, who had flown a recon L-4 'over there'. He shared so many stories with our group of between 70 and 88 year olds, should have been the next generation, so we must pass along those of the "great generation" who were many of our parents. While my father very suddenly passed at 41 of a heart attack, he was of the greatest generation. He was 4F due to a Rheumatic heart condition. He was a hero in many other ways.
We all owe them our deepest gratitude. My breakfast group lost 3 of our members in the past two years. We've been meeting since 1996. Our ages are similar, 73 - 89. I'll be 85 in two weeks.

Thanks for the comment!
