From all my reading of the lens reviews of the Canon 100-400 mk ll, it has some, but very slight defects, which are less then most lens. Not being much in the tech world was just wondering if these things really matter to a everyday hobby photographer - Thanks for the feedback

For that zoom range, it’s a world class lens. I have the MK I version (which I occasionally use with the Canon EX 1.4x MKII TC), and when I get some extra $, I’m going to trade up to the MKII. When you get a chance (and I know you either need a LONG hall or to be outside to test it), run the acutance vs aperture test - that will tell you instantly if your particular lens is up to par.

That is a great lens. Canon is not known for major flaws in its EF lenses. I'm sure if you went looking, you would find SOMETHING to whine about, as with every lens I've ever used, but I'd bet that when it is used at moderate to wide apertures between 100 and 300mm, it's pretty hard to complain about the results. That is the case with most similar optics.

Not a pro, simply an aficionado.

I don't (won't) characterize/analyze any of my lenses.
I don't worry about to what extent they may be good or bad, I just use them.

Can you notice anything in the images or prints?

No never noticed anything wrong before I learned about these things (did no what to look for)
I'm happy when I get good shots that are in focus, most of my less then keepers are my fault.

Then don't let someone or something tell you what <they think> you should be worrying about unless there is a visible flaw somewhere.
You should decide if it is really important for you to worry about.
