who could make such a mistake? Oh wait, years ago took the kids to Disneyland for their first time and forgot to put film in the camera...figured it out later in the eve. Missed BIFs? No biggie? First trip to Disneyland? Ouch.

Everything in perspective. You are right. I have done the nonloaded/misloaded film trick, too as well as taking the camera with no battery, and another time with no card.

Send the card to the manufacturer. That’s absolutely the very best way to recover your images. They know what they’re doing

Thank you. If the recovery took doesn't work, I may have to do that, but I don't think it will be necessary.

I would AT LEAST "Bicycle" at LEAST a pair of memory cards.
Keep one WITH images intact while shooting another card .
I then back ALL of my photos to a PAIR of Hard Drives, one for workload and 1 strictly Backup.
[Had a difficult recovery from my single photo drive when I moved]

Hey, it was a mistake. I had the wrong card in my hand, and my attention lapsed. Cut me a break.

Hopefully, you haven't used that card yet and will investigate image recovery software to see how many (if not all) images can recovered.

Hopefully, too, you'll look at your workflow and overall camera behavior. There's no reason to recover / mass delete images until you've (a) unloaded the images, (b) backed-up the images and (c) visually confirmed the successful completion of both items a & b.

Well said.

Following up on the thread about dumb mistakes, this past Friday I negligently formatted the wrong SD card and lost a whole week of bif photos. However, for something different, I am going to post a few pictures in the Nudity section.

Mistakes are not stupid unless you keep doing the same thing over and over.

It was stupid, because I simply was not paying attention to what I was doing.

Good morning Max,

I sincerely hope you realize just what your problem is. You are simply another wonderful human being making everyday mistakes just as we all do / or will eventually do. I flew professionally for most of my life (from simple everyday single engine aircraft ending with an ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) rating and flying the absolutely beautiful (and slowly disappearing from the worlds' fleet of very large air transports) Airbus A-380. Anyway a saying I heard very early in my flying career and never forgot was (this applies to those who flew retractable gear aircraft) "there are two kinds of pilots - those who have landed gear up and those who will". I think this applies to ALL endeavors undertaken by we Homo-Sapiens. We all just make the occasional mistake. God still loves us.

All the very best to you and yours during these "interesting" times,

Terry

The idea is that you DON'T have to delete ANY files on the chip for quite a while. BOTH memory cards should have pictures on them.
Camera usually just keeps adding TO the card, incrementing and dating the shots

Try freeware Recuva using the deep scan option.

https://www.lifewire.com/recuva-review-2622892

Note,:. Deep scan won't recover RAW files
