Am wondering if other 30D owners have had problems removing dust from the sensor. We did it after 3/4 cleans.

I have a 40D and have to clean the sensor occassionally. Did you use the bulb setting with the camera facing down and a bulb blower?

My limited experience is with a 20D and a 5D2 both since first released and both of which had an oily substance holding the dust in place and all I could do was smear it around. Being of the 'I can fix it with a hammer' mindset, I finally sent them back to Canon and since receiving them back from there, both have remained 'dry' so a Rocket blaster has been sufficient. Oil on the filter in front of the sensor is a problem I've seen mentioned several times and requires extra effort to clean it. Looks like you figured it out. Congratulations!

My precise reaction. I won't be quite so timid if I come to that point again. When it happened with the 20D we were still in the early dark ages with this stuff and most of us were pretty scared to mess with it. Then when it happened to the 5D2 I had a go at it and then took a shot that didn't make me at all happy. There was no way I was going to tear into that jewel at that price and I've spent a lifetime dismantling stuff with no remorse. It's different now - we know more, we have mass produced tools, lots of folks have done it, and we understand what's in there a little better, so... Glad you figured yours out.

Yes, my 30D Sensor was dirty also---took it to Camera shop--they could not get it clean either------------- they sent it away ----- it was cleaned and the firmware was also updated--all for $59.00. Didn't think that was too bad. I did not want to attempt it myself.
