I like cacti. What color flowers does this one get if you know?
At my previous home I used to have a white flowered night blooming really big and tall cactus. Before owning I used to rent an apartment in Pasadena on Oak Ave. I was quite familiar with Altadena to North Lake and Eaton Canyon. Left Pasadena in 1988, moved to SLO Co in 2020.

The buds or fruit (I’m obviously clueless about plants) are red as you can almost see in the small one up high. Not sure what color the blooms are. Pasadena still has a lot going on and beautiful areas to walk in. One of these days my wife and I should visit SLO. The Cal Poly campus there is one of the most sought out colleges in the area.

Yes, thank you for a reply. So you have not seem the in bloom flowers. Those red fruit (I noticed a few on the plant you photographed), are in deed fruit. They are called pears or in Spanish "
tunas". La Tuna Canyon (off the I-210 North) or Las Tunas st in Temple City are not about fish. Whence the common name Prickly Pear for
Opunta sp Cacti. You might guess my degree is in Biology.
I have not visited the Cal Poly SLO campus yet, but yes I hear it is beautiful and also not far away is the SLO Botanic Garden. It is a work in progress and ever growing bigger and with more plants.
I do miss the Gardens of the LA Co area, The Huntington Botanical Gardens, The Arboretum (Arcadia), Descanso Gardens, and wild places like Eaton Canyon, and the San Gabriel Mountains in general. I don't miss the rat race, crowding, and traffic. But I grew up with that so it is not all that shocking to me. The Pacific Ocean and Beaches of the Central Coast is Beautiful too.
