The whole world now knows that Russia is planning attacks against its own facilities in Ukraine in order to justify an invasion. Hitler did exactly the same thing when he wanted to invade Poland. Does trickery still work when everyone knows how the trick is done?
I read that this maneuver constitutes a false f**g. Apparently, it serves as a deceptive pretext to prompt war. Now this pretext has received open attention by analysts who have examined it for its value as justifying war.

Well, if the "trickees" don't believe they are being tricked, sure. Just ask my friend, the Nigerian prince! Or was he the Minister of Finance? 🤔 Both?
As Terry Goodkind put it, "There are two reasons for why people believe a lie: they want it to be true, or they are afraid it is true."

No one is tricked. As you say, everyone knows how the trick is done. But yes, it works. The "trickery" simply gives those who know better, an excuse to look the other way and allow it to happen.

What I have learned is that Russia does not want Ukraine to join NATO and have weapons directly pointing at them. I suppose the western democracies would feel the same if a nation next to them allowed ' Warsaw pact' forces on their borders. Look at what happened when Cuba allowed Soviet missiles to be stationed there, we came close to having a Nuclear war!
