My friend just makes maple syrup, not the butter or candy. I have seen my friend's wife make the ribbon candy for her grand kids. Little known fact about maple syrup New York State makes maple syrup than Vermont. Dave (my friend) sell maple sugar locally and sell a lot to a company from Vermont.
