Fund raising during the year some would go to other parade and march what ever it takes they prepare for months .the groups make their own cloths floats, and scenery. They get much more elaborate that what you see in my pictures they are called the fancy division. those costumes are enormous. The casinos pay some of the cost if the fancies went inside nd performed their routine on stage and are paid. the city provides police and clean up but does not really promote this event you should check them on the www. one group who had mirrors they were made in Europe I thin kit was the Czech republic per uniform $7000 I was told.

The mummers parade is a New Year event and goes from around 8 am throught the day ending around 9 pm.itis the longest running folk parade in America at 105 years and going strong. it is fun to see it and better to be in it anyone can. Read up on the mummers in Philly. kinda like fat Tuesday in the Marti Graw but less drunk friendlier and well the costumes are fantastic.
