NOTE: this preview pic is off in color-- not sure what is going on here, if the issue is with this website or? If you click the download button you'll get the correct image. Very odd-- can anyone tell me if this is a common occurrence on this site???
The Eastern slopes of the Sierras look vastly different from the Western slopes-- barren, almost desert-like... and it begins almost the moment you descend from the Sonora Pass.
This image is the West Walker river as it winds through Walker Valley-- a magnificent scene, very majestic... reminds me of something you'd see in Montana.
Shot taken with my Fuji GFX and a vintage Nikon Series E 100mm f2.8. This is a gem of a lens. Small, inexpensive, light, and incredibly sharp (manual focus only, though). It also works with the Fuji GFX 50R, covering the entire medium format sensor with no cropping needed.
Beautiful shot and perspective; love its close-to-far composition. I also have that lens; one of my favorites, both on my F3 and D750.
Thank you-- I agree this is a fantastic lens! It's always in my camera bag. I bought it long ago when I had the Nikon D700. I also have the Series E 50mm f1.8 and the Series E 75-150 in my collection

The ICC profile for you image is ProPhoto. When you uploaded the image it was larger than the forum's default preview size. The forum software then resized your image to create the preview and in that process it stripped off the ICC profile. That's why you see it off color. Convert your image to the sRGB color space before uploading it and the problem will be much less apparent.

I just read an article on that lens a couple of days ago from a link at the NikonRumors site. I believe the article was from Nikon's website and the author loved the lens for the same reasons as you. Extremely simple design with just four elements.
A few of Nikon's budget E series lenses have developed a bit of a cult following due to their performance and extremely low cost.

https://imaging.nikon.com/history/story/0080/index.htmThanks for posting the article! The only Series E lens that is bad is the 28mm... which is truly awful. And the 35mm runs a close second. But the others offer amazing performance, especially given their modest price tags.
Beautiful image - looks great in download view. Converting to sRGB when saving images for the web will display accurate color.
Oh yeah, the DL is much better. Very nice image.
