A recent post on Nextdoor.com. I told him that he should always buy a house with a downward sloping driveway. : )

Last week there was a video on YouTube of a guy using a flame thrower to melt the ice on his driveway.

Years ago we rented a house with a driveway that went down a steep hill. When the weather called for ice and snow we parked on the street so we could get to our jobs. When we purchased a house we were adamant that we would not have a driveway and yard like that house.

I've seen that video. I also saw one of a guy who used flames to clear his windshield. A flammable liquid shot out of the windshield washers, and was then ignited. I think someone posted that here.

Melting ice or snow? Someone needs a refresher course on sensible vs. latent heat.

Once when I lived in Tn, where we had snow now and then, we had a big ice storm. I put that picture on my FB page with the caption "The horses are fed!"

Back in the '60s they built a new house in my neighborhood that had a heated driveway. There were no leash laws so guess where all the neighborhood dogs went to poop. I think he only used it once or twice.

Years ago I lived in a duplex an a level street and had no garage so had to park on the street. One February I had to shovel a very large amount of snow from around my car then needed my wife to drive while I pushed to get the car out into the traffic lane. Being low on gas I went to fill up (had promised a friend to help him with a project) and could not find a station open. Went back home and parked in the same spot again. Fortunately the weather did warm enough that in a couple days with the help of the street department, the roads got cleared to the point of being navigable again.
