What subjects are you shooting? Can you use a tripod for support? Do you have a tripod already and need a gimbal?

I agree Tripod with a gimbal makes it so much better on you!

Try shooting the Sigmonster. 300-800 f5.6 a tad shy of 13lbs. Lol. I can get a burst or two but usually shoot off my tripod with a gimbal head.

Ha,this little, old, lady can handle her 150-600 contemporary, which I think is a little heavier than the sport,so can you, lol! They are beasts but I love mine! Enjoy!

The Contemporary is 2 lbs heavier, but the Sport is still manageable if one is fit.

So they say but it is still pretty heavy for the average person to carry around, I don’t care how you choose to do it.I am unable to attach to my tripod & sling it over my shoulder & carry it around,no way!

Sorry, correction - the Contemporary is 2 lbs lighter, not heavier. Typing is not as reliable before my double shot cappuccino as it is after.

FWIW, I purchased my Sport in 2016 with the intent of lightening up my kit from around 30 lbs to 8.3 lbs - I could finally leave the tripod/head/carrying case/etc home. I have yet to miss either the lens (which was excellent) or the tripod and stuff, almost 40K pictures later. I use a Black Rapid sling strap attached to the tripod collar, and it is fine.

My advice? Sell it and buy a 70-300. Even with an extender it's easily holdable. Harry

big tradeoff in sharpness at 300mm. A better solution is a 300mm F4, which can even work with an extender and still be sharper than the 70-300
